About the Role
As a Diesel Mechanic Instructor, you will teach, mentor, and inspire students pursuing careers in diesel technology. You will deliver hands‑on technical training, facilitate structured curriculum, model industry‑standard safety practices, and ensure graduates are job‑ready for roles in transportation, trucking, logistics, fleet maintenance, and heavy‑equipment service.
This full‑time, on‑site position includes Monday–Friday daytime hours, with most major holidays off and no required workdays when students are not in session.

Key Responsibilities
- Teach and provide hands‑on training in diesel engine diagnostics, repair, maintenance, brake systems, electrical systems, steering/suspension, emissions, hydraulics, and preventive maintenance.
- Facilitate and deliver an approved curriculum that supports student mastery and regulatory compliance.
- Break down complex mechanical concepts into clear, understandable demonstrations.
- Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Encourage professionalism, employability skills, and career readiness.
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized instructional shop.
- Ensure proper use, inventory, and care of tools and training equipment.
- Maintain accurate records for attendance, grades, competency check‑offs, and student progress.
- Participate in professional development to maintain industry‑current instructional expertise.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable, hands‑on diesel mechanic experience.
- Ability to manage a classroom/lab environment and train diverse learners.
- Strong technical background in diesel engines, diagnostics, electrical, brakes, and related systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to use technology for instruction, diagnostics, and data management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior teaching or training experience.
- ASE Medium/Heavy Truck certifications.
- Experience mentoring apprentices or leading shop teams.
- Familiarity with advanced diagnostic systems, emissions technology, and fleet operations.
